HI, I"M SANDWICH.

also known as dove only by my friend m. he/they, early 20s, white, butch transmsc, fat, I am a grilled cheese or perhaps a person. I have strong arms. I live in the "usa". EN/ESP OK.

a grilled cheese is a forever classic sandiwch for me, my home page buttons are a lineup of some other favorite sandwiches, being the mcmuffin, BLT, lamb gyro, meatball sub, patty melt, popeye's chicken sandwich (i always put coleslaw in it but couldnt add that in the photo) and, I don't know, a turkey sandwich (I just threw that one in there). my style colors for the website are pink and green for two reasons 1. because they were the colors I asked to paint my childhood bedroom and 2. I loved the Fairly Odd Parents and thusly Cosmo&Wanda as a kid. Many decisions made on this site are to fulfill needs of expression rooted in childhood. ya know how it goes.

I have a few reasons and intentions behind this website:

I dove into social media (mainly instagram) in 6th grade, and while it was a valuable experience for me to learn and express myself in ways I didn't have access to in my offline life, the pitfalls for me as a young adult were too great. Without social media I know i would not have had exposure to many concepts including knowing what being trans was, what it could mean, so young, much less that transness resonated with my experience. However as i grew older and thought that I was more greatly invested in learning about social issues, state violence, structures of oppression, etc. I was actually less so because I became lost in a miasma of infoposts instead of taking action in my daily life, and taking the necessary time to absorb the thoughts, terms, and experiences being referenced by these posts. In no way am I suggesting that social media can't be a valuable tool - what I am saying is that social media has presented, for me, a perpetuation to a personal cycle of despair, anxiety, disinformation and prevention to building meaningful connection to social movements. I also had a slim grasp on any sense of self and desperate attachment to performance. I used to be on instagram 24/7 constantly absorbing - I find that taking in posts a few times a week and investing my energy elsewhere (including this site) to be more sustainable. social media is made to be seductive and in engaging with it regularly I enabled my worst tendencies. Thus I take responsibility for redirecting my access. In saying all of this an intention I have for this site is to be a location of self-reflection and processing of personal/political/social issues, learning, celebrating creativity, and practice reacquainting myself with my self-identity.
Throughout my life I have loved aggreggating content from my life and making sure I can keep a record/memory of it, including thoughts, objects, photos etc. I have lost many of these archives that I've kept, but some I have not, and want to make sure it stays that way. Something I will always be disappointed about is the loss of journals and photos, even in recreating my yearly archives on this site I feel the losses. I appreciate the photos I do have but loathe the fact I only have the ones I took with the intention of uploading them to Instagram, thus losing many less sanitized memories.
I have also not been able to love hobbies since I started middle school, really, and out of love for myself and the world and belief in creativity/the construction of possibilities I am making time to devote myself to a hobby for the first time in forever. So this is my hobby. I'm starting not knowing any HTML or CSS but am loving building this with what I can learn and seeing what I can make.
